The Inglewood Public Library provides more than 150,000 books for youth at the Main Library and branches as well as young adult and children's videos and sound recordings at the Audio-Visual Division, Main Library. The Library defines "youth" as young people from infants through the eighth grade.
Librarians are on duty in the Children's/Youth Services Library, Main Library all hours the building is open to the public. Among the services offered to children, young adults, parents, and teachers are:
- Assistance in locating materials and other resources to complete school assignments. (It is not the librarian's job to do students' homework for them!)
- Hosting class visits to the Library. Interested teachers should call 310/412-5645 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
- Providing materials of special interest to parents and teachers in working with young people in the Children's Services Collection. Ask a librarian for more information.
- Offering crafts and other special programs at the Main Library and Crenshaw-Imperial Branch Library.
