Welcome to the City of Inglewood Planning and Building Department website.  As Acting Planning and Building Director, I am responsible for managing physical growth and development, ensuring that zoning codes, building codes and other construction codes are properly implemented, monitoring the protection of the environment and ensuring that the Planning Commission maintains a regular schedule of meetings and acts on a variety of projects that require discretionary approvals.  As citizens continue to express interest in the land development process, our goal is to ensure that City staff can assist them through planning and building solutions and remove obstacles to the building and development processes.  I hope that you find our web site to be useful, and I would be interested in hearing from you about how we can improve what we do to make Inglewood a more sustainable community.

Accomplishments

Wanda Williams, Acting Planning and Building Director, has over 25 years of experience in municipal government service within planning, project delivery, project management, local programs, community involvement and administration.

Beginning in 1980 as a Development Coordinator, Wanda worked through a variety of land use projects and programs. Most of her early career emphasized establishing substantive planning solutions that reflected core community values and upheld environmental stewardship responsibilities. In 1995, she began working as the Project Manager for the Van Nuys Airport Master Plan and contributed to early planning efforts for the Los Angeles International Airport Master Plan.  She was later appointed as Deputy Director for Planning and Design for San Francisco International Airport.  Previously as Planning Manager and currently as Acting Planning and Building Director, Wanda continues her emphasis on stakeholder collaboration in the planning and development of local land use solutions.  Her work with the Inglewood Planning Commission and Inglewood residents has remained at the center of her efforts to effect positive change in the planning environment for the long-term benefit of residents. 

With her appointment as Acting Planning and Building Director, Wanda has expanded opportunities to promote effective customer service, to streamline the planning and building processes and to advance proactive and accountable behavior within the Department.  Wanda obtained a B.G.S Degree from the University of Iowa.
