Skateboarding is the hottest and fastest-growing "extreme" sport in the United States and Inglewood is keeping pace with the growth. Inglewood has three thriving skate parks that are filled with excited and energetic skateboarders. Skate Parks are located at the following locations:
Darby Park - 3400 W. Arbor Vitae
Rogers Park - 400 W. Beach
Vincent Park - 700 Warren Lane

Don’t miss out on the free lunches offered to youth 18 and under at seven different locations in Inglewood. Free lunches will be served Monday through Friday beginning June 23, 2008 and ending on August 29, 2008 at Ashwood Park, 201 S. Ash Avenue; Edward Vincent Jr. Park, 700 Warren Lane; Darby Park, 3400 W. Arbor Vitae Avenue; Lockhaven Community Center, 11125 S. Doty Ave.; Rogers Park, 400 W. Beach Avenue; North Park, 625 E. Hargrave Avenue and Siminski Park, 9717 S. Inglewood Avenue

The Amphitheater at Edward Vincent, Jr. Park is rapidly becoming a diverse and popular entertainment venue. Past productions have included theater, fashion shows, musicals and concerts including the First Annual Cuban Music Festival and "Jazz in the Park," Inglewood's Annual South Bay Jazz Festival.

Thirty (30) seniors in Inglewood who have extremely high nutritional risk scores, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, dehydration, and a variety of chronic illnesses are showing great improvement as a result of their participation in the “Be Well” nutrition and exercise program, offered by the Inglewood Senior Center, 330 Centinela Avenue , Inglewood, CA 90302. They are meeting twice a week for four months, and will continue weekly maintenance classes for an additional six months. This second “Be Well” class that has been offered at the Senior Center is funded by the federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration on Aging as a national model of health and wellness.

With poor diet and physical inactivity poised to become the leading preventable cause of death in America, HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson today renewed efforts against obesity and overweight, announcing a new national education campaign and a new research strategy at HHS’ National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The Edward Vincent Jr. Park Swimming Pool will open on Monday, June 23 through Monday, September 1, 2008. General swim is from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday. Admission is $1. THE PROBLEM OF OVERWEIGHT IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS
- In 1999, 13% of children aged 6 to 11 years and 14% of adolescents aged 12 to 19 years in the United States were overweight. This prevalence has nearly tripled for adolescents in the past 2 decades.

Racquet Ball and Weight Room facilities are available for use by residents and the community at large at both Rogers Park and Darby Park. A monthly membership fee is required. The racquet ball membership fee is $12 (resident) and $14 (non-residents); weight room membership is $10 (resident) and $12 (non-residents).
