INGLEWOOD, CA – April 10, 2007 -- The City of Inglewood will host its Annual Health & Wellness, College and Career and Earth Day Expo on Saturday, April 21, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Roger’s Park located at 400 West Beach Avenue. The theme for this action-packed day is ““Healthy Life, Healthy Living,” and is designed to encourage healthy lifestyles and bring awareness to issues that impact quality of life, including physical health, education and environmental awareness.
New to this year’s three-in-one event is the City’s First Annual Fitness Bowl. The Fitness Bowl was birthed to mitigate the growing number of childhood obesity cases, as well as promote the importance of daily exercise. Under the watchful eye of a medical professional and certified fitness trainer, participants within four age brackets will engage in a regimen of exercises. The four age categories include 10-17, 18-34, 35-49 and 50 and over. The individual or team who finishes the regimen in the fastest time will be determined the winner. Prizes will be given.
Colleges from throughout the State will be available at the fair to discuss admission requirements, financial aid, and important college preparation information.
The City’s Environmental Services Division will be on hand with an array of tips on recycling and waste prevention. Both residents and businesses will benefit from the information provided to protect the community’s and the region’s natural resources.
Admission to all areas of the fair is free! For more information contact the Cultural Office at (310) 412-8700. To register for the Fitness Bowl, contact Arrick Turner at (310) 412-5504.
