30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day Celebration!
New Venue - Crozier Middle School
On Saturday, January 19, 2013, the City of Inglewood will host its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration.  This year's memorial of Dr. King's legacy represents Inglewood's 30th annual commemoration of the life and accomplishments of the renowned civil rights leader. 

New this year, all events will take place at Crozier Middle School, located at 120 W. Regent St. Inglewood's King Day celebration will include a rousing commemorative service beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Crozier Middle School Auditorium.  Under the banner, "Keeping the Dream Alive: Past and Future,"€ King Day event will feature performances by local choirs and community groups, as well as participation from elected officials and special guests.  KTLA News Anchor Michaela Periera will serve as the mistress of ceremonies, and District Attorney Jackie Lacey, and actress Zoe Hendrix, from the BET series "Reed Between the Lines",€ serve as special guests.

Musical selections will include performances by Inglewood€ry own Jimmy Fisher and Contagious Praise.  The finale of this gala event will feature inspirational award-winning speeches from winners of the Dr. MLK Day speech contest.  The contest is conducted in local schools throughout the city.

"Inglewood's Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration is an inspiring event that reflects our community's continued commitment of to the ideas of freedom, equality, and mutual respect inspired by Dr. King," said Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts, Jr.  "The public is invited to join us in remembrance of this civil rights hero."

Immediately following the commemorative ceremony, the day's celebration will continue on the grounds of Crozier Middle School with a spectacular family festival.  The festival begins at 11:00 a.m. and will include a variety of entertainment, interactive games, commercial vendors and food selections.
