KaBOOM!, a national non-profit that empowers communities to build playgrounds, and The J. Williard and Alice S. Marriot Foundation recently selected the City of Inglewood as a community playground build partner. Through the KaBOOM! and The J. Williard and Alice S. Marrior Foundation partnership, the City with the help of community volunteers will design and build a new playground for children ages 2 -12 at North Park. North Park is located at 611 Hargrave St. On January 31st, the City kicked-off its KaBOOM! Community Playground Build project with a Design Day where adults and children provided their creative ideas and suggestions for how the new playground should look and feel. From that meeting, three potential design plans were developed. From those designs, the City will select which playground it will build. That's where you come in!
We would like you to help us select the final playground. To select your favorite playground design, click here and cast your vote.Voting will be open Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 11:59 p.m.
We are now soliciting donations and volunteers to ensure that the playground is built on schedule. Over 200 volunteers will be needed to make the new playground a reality. Volunteers are needed to assist with various tasks that range from serving on a planning committee and assisting with pre-build tasks to actually helping to build and install the new playground equipment.
If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information on how you can support this community service, contact the City's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department at (310) 412-8750.
