The City of Inglewood will host the 9th Annual Cesar Chavez Day Unity March, Recognition Ceremony and Celebration on Saturday, March 20, 2010.
The event which is sponsored by the City of Inglewood and the Inglewood Unified School District will get underway at 10:00 a.m. at Warren Lane Elementary School located at 9330 8th Avenue. The march will be led by state and local officials who will be joined by residents and community groups. Marchers will leave the grounds of Warren Lane Elementary at 10:30 a.m. and will travel west on Arbor Vitae to Crenshaw, north on Crenshaw to Pincay Drive and west on Pincay Drive to Darby Park (via the Pincay Drive entrance).
Immediately following the March, the celebration will continue at 11:00 a.m. on the grounds of Darby Park, located at 3400 West Arbor Vitae. Parking for the march and celebration is available at Hollywood Park-Gate 8. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the park throughout the day.
Activities have been planned for the entire family, including arts and crafts, interactive and carnival style games, face painting, vendor booths and a soccer tournament featuring the 7th Annual Cesar Chavez Day Cup.
Highlighting the celebration will be presentations by the dynamic winners of the Cesar Chavez Day speech contest. Winners were selected in four grade categories representing the early elementary (K-2), elementary (3-5), middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12) grade levels.
