Rogers Park Selected as a “Fit for Gold” Site
Rogers Park has been selected by South Bay One-Stop Youth Services as a “Fit for Gold” site. 

Fit for Gold selects and trains youth attending school in Inglewood, Lawndale and Hawthorne to tutor, mentor, and conduct fitness programs for elementary school age children participating in the Rogers Park After-School Recreation Program.  The youth will tutor, mentor, and conduct fitness activities with elementary school age children. The activities will include discussions about health and nutrition, and light calisthenics consisting of arm curls, jumping jacks, squats, hop scotch, and hula-hoop. 

The program will be held 6-hours a week at Rogers Park, 400. W. Beach Avenue, and will run through May 31, 2004. 

The Fit For Gold Youth Trainers receive numerous hours of training from the Los Angeles County Office of Education, the Friday Night Live Leadership Development Program, and Gold’s Gym in partnership with South Bay One-Stop Youth Services. 

The Fit for Gold Tutoring and Physical Fitness Academy is a component of the Youth Development Services Program, a federally funded year-round program under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).  The program, is sponsored by the South Bay Workforce Investment Board and operated by South Bay One Stop Youth Services.
