Regional Emergency Preparedness Exercise
On Thursday, December 9, 2004, the City of Inglewood will be participating in an annual Disaster Drill Exercise at The Forum.  The drill is annual exercise conducted by the County of Los Angeles and attended by emergency service personnel from the City of Los Angeles and several other South Bay cities.  The purpose of the drill is to enhance the coordination and responsiveness of local cities to disasters and other emergencies.

In order to facilitate the exercise, Hollywood Park property adjacent to 90th Street will be used to temporarily park fire trucks, police cars and other safety vehicles participating in the drill.  The drill will begin and 7:00 a.m. and end at approximately 1:00 p.m.  No civilians will be allowed on the property and police personnel will guard the access gates.

The County of Los Angeles and the City of Inglewood will be notifying adjacent properties about details leading up to the event.  It is anticipated that Kareem Court and 90th Street, from Prairie Avenue to the southern entry gate to Carlton Square, will be closed for a brief period of time.

The disaster exercise scenario calls for a large explosion at The Forum where a “Support Our Troops” rally is taking place.  The explosion causes a significant amount of injuries and some structural damage.  The public is assured that this exercise is not based on any credible threat; it is only prudent planning.
